The industrial look of the commercial kitchen has crossed over from restaurant to residence in what is undoubtedly the most influential kitchen trend today.
Functional stainless steel features heavily in the design of these spaces, mixing with weathered wooden floors, exposed brick and subway tiles to create an exciting fusion of industrial and vintage styles.
Key elements in this look include open shelving, stainless steel hanging racks, large sink bowls, storage cabinets on legs and pendant lighting.
Island-style benches are noticeably wider and thicker in hard-wearing materials so they are a practical work station by day and transform into a bar for entertaining at night.
Expert advice: “Set modern kitchen furniture in an atmosphere of industrial space by mixing clean lines with aged timber, brick walls, concrete columns and metal skylights,” says German Kitchens’ Hannah.
“Stainless steel is a practical choice, creating a sleek industrial feel to the surfaces and finishes.”
