How to create a Christmas grazing table
Christmas Day shouldn’t just be about the traditional turkey and all the trimmings. Sometimes, when you can’t face another bowl of Aunt Peggy’s trifle, it’s nice to plan for a late-afternoon light meal.
A grazing table will take centre stage in our less traditional Christmas this year and we’re hoping our family and friends who spend this special day with us will find the simple yet sophisticated styling a refreshing change. And as we’re never sure what the weather will do on the day, we’ve planned it so it can be set up indoors or out.
The hero of our setting is the striking Markantonia floral arrangement that hangs over the dining table like a giant Kiwi mistletoe. You can make your own arrangement or wreath with dried or fresh flowers and even add some Christmas decorations to give that festive feel.
Seed fairy lights delicately arranged in a beautiful tall brass lantern will complete the festive look and carry you effortlessly from day into night.
The individual table settings feature handmade ceramics matched with stylish brass cutlery and napkin rings. The rustic elm dining table shows off the crisp white table linen to perfection, and the traditional-looking bench seats are complemented by a modern cane dining chair sitting proudly at the head of the table.
All your table needs now is a spread of delicious food. Ours features a big platter of prosciutto, sliced pear, strawberries, rockmelon and pomegranate. We’ve included a rather special ingredient on our cheeseboard: Salted Caramel Spiced Pear Butter by Kiwi brand Humble Kitchen, which goes beautifully with soft creamy brie or a crumbly blue. Just add fresh focaccia, crackers and oatcakes and the grazing table is complete.
