Chillsome nights are all the more delightful when there’s something dark and cosy waiting for you at bedtime. Alex Walls shows us how to create the ultimate moody bedroom
Hunkering down for winter is something I look forward to every year. I love the idea of extra cosy layers on the bed, hot soups, soft slippers and early bedtimes with our favourite TV series lined up for the evening.
All those cold-weather comforts were uppermost in my mind as I put together this enticing bedroom just made for snuggling up and staying put. Rich winter tones of forest green, rustic gold and earth brown were my first thought, starting with quite a dramatic and moody backdrop of Dulux ‘Glenbrook’ on the walls. Many people assume that deep tones on the walls and floor will feel too dark, but I think it’s a great way to embrace a bit of cosiness in your bedroom. Then all you need to add is some warm-toned furnishings to make everything come together.
This gorgeous large-scale art print sets the moody, wintry theme and matches perfectly with the green bedding. Of course, darkness needs a contrast, and the golden pop of colour from the pillows brings the scheme to life – this small hint of colour brings warmth and just the right amount of balance without stealing the show. A chunky rug underfoot and the scene is complete – now who’s ready for an early night?
