How to make your own stylish, copper coat rack in 6 steps

You will need: Copper capillary elbow (25mm), wooden dowel (25mm x 1.2m), and plywood piece (1.2 x 9cm).

Step 1

Measure the length of the hollow section inside the copper junction pipe. Cut the timber dowel to this size (approx 19mm long).

Step 2

Apply a thin layer of glue on the inside of the pipe.

Step 3

Insert the 19mm timber dowel rod into the pipe. You may need to hit it with a hammer if it’s a tight fit. Repeat these steps to get the number of hooks you require.

Step 4

Allow time for the dowel to stick to the inside of the pipes.

Step 5

Measure and mark out where to screw each copper pipe on the timber backing board. Make sure they are evenly spaced.

Step 6

Ask a friend to help you screw the pipe into position from the back of the timber board and into the timber glued inside the pipe. Hang on the wall using eye screws and hollow wall anchors, or small masonry features.
