1. Auckland Art Fair

Celebrate emerging and established artists at the 2019 Auckland Art Fair, New Zealand’s premier showcase for contemporary art. Returning to The Cloud on Auckland’s Queens Wharf from May 1-5, the now-annual extravaganza will feature some of the best galleries and artists from New Zealand and the Pacific.

We Can Build a Fire, 2017, by Ron Adams, an artist featuring with Galerie pompom (Sydney) in this year’s fair.

Be among the first to experience the event by purchasing a limited-release Premier Art Pass, $150, which gives you access to the preview day, opening night, art party and all public days, as well as a full programme of exclusive VIP events taking place around Auckland. artfair.co.nz

2. Through the grapevine

Cloudy Bay has opened The Shed, a new cellar door on the banks of Lake Dunstan in Central Otago. Enjoy a Te Wahi Pinot Noir in the tasting room, tour the vineyard by land or air or book your own custom-made experience. Find out more at cloudybay.co.nz.

3. Heart of glass

For the connoisseur of fine drinks, the new Tank accessories by Tom Dixon feature a luxurious, hand-applied platinum decal – a minimal yet decorative design that looks beautiful on display, not hidden away. ecc.co.nz

4. Mirror, mirror

Choosing a circular mirror instead of one with straight edges is a great way to turn a functional piece of homeware into a statement. Strategically placed mirrors can also help to create the illusion of more light and space and are a fabulous way of ‘rounding out’ your interior design. We love the new round designs from Republic Home with deep, decorative frames in wood and metal, including this Zephyr wall mirror, $995. republichome.com

5. Biggest fan

Between seasons, it pays to be prepared. A chic fan keeps you cool when the sun’s scorching, then makes a delightful decor accent when the chill eventually hits. This Fern Fans painted birchwood and cotton-voile fan, $173, is exclusive to net-a-porter.com.

6. On the shelf

Show what you want, hide what you need! Everyone’s storage requirements are different, but the Copenhagen can take care of them all; $9599 from boconcept.co.nz.

7. A room with a view

Painterly designs, such as this Navarra fabric in Mulberry (shown on bed) add another layer of excitement to your bedroom decor. Exclusively available as part of the ILIV Andalucia Collection at Harvey Furnishings, this jacquard fabric features a striking forest design and is available to purchase by the metre, so you can adorn your space just a little, or a lot. View the full collection at harveyfurnishings.co.nz.

8. Broken beauty

Inspired by the Japanese art of kintsugi – repairing broken ceramics with gold-dusted lacquer – this Seletti kintsugi tray, $402, invites an element of the unexpected to your table setting. farfetch.com

9. Up the wall

Do you have a wall in need of a bit of pizzazz, or a small room that’s begging for some creative flair? You can’t go past a high-impact wallpaper for a quick and easy makeover. We’re enchanted by this moody Glasshouse pattern by Belgian company Khrôma, available at aspiringwalls.co.nz.

10. Let the light in

Hung high in a space filled with natural light, these pleated crystal pendants by Marc Wood, featuring double-walled borosilicate glass, make a refined statement. When lit, their unique glow shines playfully from every angle. Priced from $2180 each, at ecc.co.nz.

11. Bon voyage

By Clara Le Fort (Gestalten)

Bon Voyage gives an insight into how to travel in an eco-friendly way, featuring places such as a remote Namibian lodge (built from shipwrecks) which protects endangered wildlife, and a restored Hong Kong hotel which draws on local tradition, among other extraordinary lodgings offering amazing design, food and experiences.

12. Kitchen living

(Gestalten)

As the true heart of any home, the kitchen is no longer just a utilitarian space – it’s often where we share our happiest experiences. Kitchen Living offers inspiration for all, whether you’re considering a complete overhaul or a small tweak, along with technology updates and life hacks aplenty.
