Cameron Diaz’s house in ‘The Holiday’ is for sale

Cameron Diaz’s home in the 2006 film The Holiday could be yours for a cool $11.8 million. The Tuscan style mansion in San Marino, California, was centre-stage in The Holiday as Diaz’s character, Amanda Woods, dumped her cheating boyfriend’s belongings to the ground from the second-storey balcony.

The film, which premiered well before the days of the share-economy and Airbnb, follows the stories of two women who switch homes during the Christmas period after chatting on a home-exchange website. And while the home – which boasts carved wood ceilings, a walk-in bar, a grand staircase and oversized fireplace – belonged to Diaz’s character in the film, it is actually Kate Winslet’s character who spent the most on-screen time there.

The home’s gated entrance and rear yard were featured in the movie, while the interiors depicted on screen were actually elaborate sets constructions, constructed Sony Pictures Studios.

Esteemed architect Wallace Neff, who built the mansion as his family home in the 1920s, is credited with creating the now iconic “California style” by drawing design inspiration from both the Spanish Mission style and Mediterranean architecture. The lucky buyer of this 7 bedroom, 6 bathroom home will join the likes of Madonna, Diane Keaton, Jennifer Anniston and Brad Pitt, who have all owned homes designed by Neff.
