Stepping up his official duties, heir to the throne Prince Charles hosted King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia of Spain for afternoon tea in his home.

The Spanish royals are currently on a three-day state visit to the UK, which included this intimate gathering at Clarence House.

Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall also gave permission for the press to capture the get-together, which took place in their immaculate living room.

The photographs offer a rare glimpse inside the British royal couple’s domestic life. Prince Charles is clearly a family man, as the room is dotted with sweet family portraits.

One picture frame contains a photo of Prince Harry, Charles’ younger son, while another was taken at grandson Prince George’s christening. The photo shows the British royal family’s line of succession – The Queen, Prince Charles, Prince William and Prince George.

Clarence House was the home of Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother for 49 years, from just after her husband’s death in 1953 to her own passing in 2002.

The historical house underwent renovations, before Prince Charles took up residence in 2003. Following their wedding in 2005 he was joined by the Duchess of Cornwall, and they have lived here since.

According to the official website for the Royal Family, the decoration of the rooms in Clarence House retains the ambience created by The Queen Mother. Much of her collection of works of art and furniture are in their former positions.
