Makers of Architecture

Makers of Architecture are paving the way for research and development aimed at tackling technological building and design inefficiencies.

Creative problem solving is at the centre of what Makers of Architecture do, and they are not ones to shy away from a challenge. The development of their digitally designed and fabricated plywood based cassette cladding system (CLT) is one of their most significant developments. CLT was put to the test on this Banks Peninsula design where the practice was given the opportunity to showcase their progressive building material.

The material allows rapid on-site assembly, and the house was assembled jigsaw-like in only three days. The owners were clearly thrilled with the result; the home was only intended to be used as a transitional home after their home was extensively damaged in the Christchurch earthquake. Now, the Warrander’s believe the home comfortably accommodates their needs, and have decided to make it their forever home.
