Turn stationery into decor: Four ways with bulldog clips

Not the usual clipboard basic, these bulldog clips are designed to be part of the decor. Here’s how you can make it happen

Clipboard

To make this simple clipboard, take a small piece of MDF and cut it into a 21cm x 30cm rectangle. Give it a coat of paint using a small testpot in your choice of colour (we used Resene ‘Florentine Pink’). When completely dry, add a large bulldog clip and some A5 sheets of paper.

Gift giving

Put the environment first by placing small gifts in homemade fabric bags. Here we took some scraps of blue linen and sewed them into little bags. We then folded over the tops and clipped a gift tag to each. Not only do these look great, the recipient can reuse them in the future. It’s the gift bag that keeps on giving!

Pinboard

You can make a bulletin board in minutes using an art canvas. We chose a small round canvas and painted it with a testpot of Resene ‘Eskimo’, but leave it plain if you prefer. Once dry, string lengths of thin cord across the front, fixing the ends to the back of the wooden frame with a staple gun. Then use mini bulldog clips to fix pictures and word inspiration to the board. This is a simple, quick and cost-effective solution for your workspace or home office.

Wall art

If your budget doesn’t allow for costly framing, simply use gold bulldog clips to hang your prints or photographs. Place prints together on the wall for the most effective look. Three is always a good number when grouping.
