How to create an interior inspired by earthy colours and Moroccan style
At this time of year, the summer sunshine draws me outside for afternoon cocktails on an almost daily basis, so for this month’s room reveal I decided to imagine a lush and inviting outdoor lounge setting.
I was inspired by the Dulux colour forecast for 2018, which identifies a ‘Kinship’ theme consisting of earthy hues with cosy neutral shades. The spicy tones of this palette remind me of a warm Moroccan sunset – sherbet pink skies, sandy dunes and dusty red earth – but I’ve turned that imagined scene on its head by using an earthy red (Dulux ‘Tikitiki’) on the walls and a subtle pink (Dulux ‘Prebbleton’) on the floor.
These colours appear especially beautiful when balanced with lush planting, as green cools and freshens the look. We have used an artificial (believe it or not) palm that can be used indoors or out and requires zero maintenance. That’s my kind of planting!
I also love how this rattan daybed is long enough to double as a coffee table with the addition of a platter of yummy nibbles and a huge jug of (my current favourite) spicy sangria. Cheers!
