Otis Hu has had a fascination with paper goodies since she was young, but it wasn’t until she was asked to illustrate a flower for a honey company that she discovered her knack for drawing. “It was so fun to see the illustration come alive and I thought that if I could create original illustrations to share with other people it would be so fantastic,” says Otis.
The Papermint range includes greeting cards, nursery prints, journals, gift tags and hanging cards, all designed by Otis and printed in New Zealand on eco-friendly paper. While each design begins life as a rough sketch on paper, the computer is where the magic happens once an idea formulates, says Otis. “My designs are inspired by everything in life from family, my two wonderful babies, children’s books, graphics and illustrations, quotes and music and everything else that pushes us to get out of bed each morning full of optimism.”
