If sophisticated pared-back luxe is your yule of choice this year then turn to the dark side with black-as-night gift wrap and accessories offset by a gleam of gold
This delectably moody setting is all about scale and simplicity. The grand living room with its high ceilings, large fireplace and dark walls provides the perfect backdrop for a real Christmas tree dressed elegantly in gold, black and white decorations.
Lighting is key in a room like this, so go to town with candlesticks and tealight holders to create pools of low light and softly flickering shadows. Let the seed fairy lights leave a trail through the tree and perhaps in the fireplace and elsewhere in the room too.
Keep it simple with mainly plain paper, ribbons and tags in gold, black and white.
