An old bottle factory on the fringe of Melbourne’s CBD is transformed from an empty shell into a textured and warm inner-city abode

Matt Walsh and Amber Manning fell in love with an old bottle factory located on the fringe of Melbourne’s CBD.

The warehouse had never been inhabited as a residence so the couple commissioned architect David Norman to make it liveable. After an extensive 12-month renovation period, Jessica Bettenay was called upon to tackle the interiors.

“I am not the kind of designer to waltz in and ask someone to shed their history, their story and start all over again,” says Jessica. “So I worked with some more contemporary, modern choices to create the right balance.”
