Cake toppers
Cut bamboo skewers into various lengths. Wrap a piece of washi tape around the end of a skewer and carefully line up and stick the lengths together. Add another piece of tape (or two), then cut the ends at different angles to create little flags.

Gift boxes
Purchase plain boxes (or make your own from a template downloaded from the internet). Decorate with washi tape to create pretty packaging for gifts.

Greeting cards
Cut a piece of cardboard to create a birthday card, score down the middle and fold. Stick washi tape to the front of the card in vertical, horizontal or angled stripes. Cut a banner or circle out of paper and write your message on it. Stick it on top of the washi tape stripes using double-sided tape.

Framed washi art
Cut a piece of card to fit your frame. Design your pattern, using a pencil to lightly mark the card, measuring to ensure your design will be centred. Stick strips of washi tape over your design, then gently cut out shapes with a craft knife to avoid cutting the card. Peel off the unwanted bits of tape.
