Who lives here? Rebecca and Mark Davidson, Molly (7) and Harry (4).
What was the space like before? This bathroom is part of a new-build in Auckland. We wanted a small guest toilet downstairs.
How did you approach the design? There is no natural light in this room, so I thought I’d keep it as a contemporary, dark and moody space. We used natural timber for the vanity and mirror to warm the space up and match the overall theme of our house, which features timber, black and white throughout.
Biggest challenge? Fitting a vanity in. The space was so small and we were limited as to where we could place it. Thankfully we found one the right size and didn’t have to compromise on design.
What do you think of the room now? We wanted something moody that would make a statement even in such a small space. We like it for what
it is – a downstairs toilet!
