The project

The homeowners wanted to create an ensuite utilising the space previously occupied by a small walk-in wardrobe and powder room. They knew they wanted a double shower and mosaic tiles so incorporated those, plus good storage in the vanity.

Design

Bridget and Ben had initial help from concept architect Rachel Higgs of Integrado, and finishing help from interior designer Jenny Anderson from Zomia. The cabinetry was designed by Robyn Labb (who also designed our kitchen).

They wanted glass mosaics which they felt worked really well with the 1960s heritage of the house. The Atlantic stone floor tiles, which have been used elsewhere in the house drove the colour palette. They chose a Duravit under-mounted basin and Paini Cox wall-mounted tapware in brushed brass. Skylights bring in natural light and highlight the mosaic tiles and there are also recessed ceiling lights and hidden LED sensor lights under the vanity for subtle night light.

“If budget allowed, we would have taken the mosaic tiles right to the ceiling, but we had to stop somewhere! Rachel Higgs did the original layout design, Ben (Snelling) & designer Jenny Anderson sourced the materials, and our builder (Paul Young from Twin Solutions) oversaw the project management of everything,” says Bridget.
