A bland bathroom is given a fresh new look for under $500
Who lives here? Audra and Grant O’Donoghue, Abby, 8, and Isaac, 5, plus Karen the cat.
What was the space like before? It was a little beige box. Very nondescript, with a simple screen print on one wall.
What did you do to make it over? Wallpapered one wall, replaced the toilet brush and accessories, and hung a new mirror. I already had the candle and doorstop, so once I had the wallpaper, mirror and hook, the actual installation was done in half a day.
Biggest challenge? Finding not only the perfect mirror for the look I was trying to achieve, but also the perfect hook to hang it on. I think the little details make all the difference.
What do you think of the room now? We love it. It feels fresh and much bigger, thanks to the height of the trees reaching up to the ceiling. It also ties in well with the rest of our home, which has a monochrome Scandinavian palette with warm timber accents. Our place isn’t large so an overall scheme was important to maintain a cohesive feel.
